This is the site of the Shannon Town Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) one of hundreds of SECs across Ireland supported by the SEAI.ie to promote best community practice in saving energy.
Our purpose is have the people of Shannon Town share their experiences: both good and bad of energy use. From using heavy curtains at night, to secondary glazing, to solar panels, to batteries and electric cars.
Imagine how useful it would be to talk to yourself six months from now after having had solar PV installed, bought an EV car, etc. and have your future self share with you the pitfalls and what their would have done differently.
While we are all different, and so want different things from energy saving, by chatting with each other we can share knowledge and provide tested options and so promote best practice. It’s always great to discuss things with people who may provide options you hadn’t considered as an individual.
